Easier to use the Sunrider than Stock and much cooler looking!

First off, don' let the picture in the link fool you, this is the Racer Back Trektop NX, see this link Bestop 56805-35 Trektop Soft Top There are multiple links for this product. Make sure you go to the Bestop web site first to confirm you are ordering the correct part number. [...] My Jeep is a 2007 Wrangler Unlimited (4 doors).
My Jeep is unique in that it has the factory half doors (steel bottom and canvas top, by the way the Bestop canvas matches the canvas on my factory doors! There seems to be some debate as to if this top will work with the factory half doors, and let me assure you it does. They fit like a glove.
The install was straight forward, however be aware that it is best done in a warm place, outside on a sunny day or in the garage with a space heater. The fabric will be almost an inch too tight right out of the box and trying to install it on a cool evening was not what Bestop prescribed in the instructions. I let the Jeep sit out in the sun th e next day and ever since the top has fit perfectly.
The Sunrider option is awesome! There are no channels to pry apart around the doors like the factory top. You simply unlatch and flip back. This was a huge relief as I bought the Jeep for my wife and she was unable to use the factory Sunrider option without tearing her fingers up. Zip out the side and rear windows and it become a safari bikini. Another nice feature is my wife and I can have the Sunrider flipped open and the rear seat is still completely shaded. This is great when we have our three little ones along for the ride. Best of all we have survived our first downpour without any leaks! GO BESTOP!!

Easy install and works great... so far

Purchased this top on Thursday had it by Saturday (Love Amazon Prime!!). We recently purchased our 2007 JKU with the Freedom Hard top but a soft top was on the short list of must have items. After looking for a used factory soft top someone recommended the Trektop. Took my wife and I a total of two hours to remove the hard top and install the new Trektop. It fits great, need the sun to stretch the top some more for the back corners at the tail gate to fit better but for it not breaking 70 degrees here everything worked perfect. Time will tell but so far we're very happy with the purchase... now on to the next addition for the new toy.

Great top - ease of use is so so

Overall, I love this soft top...I only had the hard top on my 2012 4 door and craved the convertible experience in the summer.

Looks:
I knew what I was getting into buying this kind of top vs. the OEM kind as the trektop uses the sports bar for support instead of a dedicated frame so it sits closer to the vehicle and gives the fastback look in the back. I get a lot of compliments on how sporty it looks.

Install:
As the other reviewers and the directions say, this is not an easy top to install unless the temperature is above 75. I did this on a warm spring late afternoon (80) but didn't leave it out long enough to get really hot so I couldn't lock the front top down without unfastening the two tension cables. After a few days of sitting in the sun, I was able to fasten the cables and the top locks down with little effort. Aside from that, the install took about 2 hours but was relatively easy. I recommend reading the directions thorough ly and also checking out the jeep doctors' install video on youtube as the directions are HORRIBLE. They are not very detailed and the pictures are dark as the directions appear to have been photo copied from another bad copy. For the money, Bestop should really invest the dollar or two for a more detailed, color installation sheet. Tip: you can get a clearer pdf from some of the online merchants that sell these like Quadratec.

Ease of use:
Because it doesn't have the OEM frame, ease of removal is a pain...you are better off just rolling back the front part of the top and zipping out the side/back windows for the bikini top. Removing the whole thing isn't hard, but you have to unscrew the window surrounds and for me that's too much trouble. I will say the front part that folds back is awesome! Two retention levers (similar to hard top levers) flip back and the top folds back...you can do it in the jeep by yourself and there is no need to secure the fold ed top...this takes me less than a minute to be top down in the sun!

Quality:
I have no complaints about the quality of any of the components. I haven't had a single leak and have driven through a terrible downpour a week ago. The zippers are very rugged and operate smoothly so far. The whole top fits snug on all sides and the top.

Other things:
If you are used to the hard top, the first thing you will notice is road noise, even w/ the top and sides in place. It's not overwhelming, but it is noticeably louder.

If you haven't had a soft top, you should also know that even w/ the top/sides in place, the jeep is not as secure as with the hard top. The zippers can be accessed and it is just a couple of zips from someone getting inside. I installed the Bestop lockbox under the drivers seat for my valuables, but anyone getting this top should be aware it affords no real protection.
